Keeping up with Workouts and Healthy Eating During Travel

Whether you are traveling for work or for fun, it's always a challenge to keep up with your regular workouts and with healthy eating during travel. So here are a few tips on how to fit it all in.

When packing, make sure to pack at least 1 set of workout clothes and your running/athletic shoes. In addition, pack healthy snacks such as raisins and almonds, a low sugar energy bar and fresh fruit. Also, don't forget to pack your re-usuable water bottle to help you remember to drink water every day.

For workouts, use the hotel gym or research online ahead of time to see if there are any cool classes you can take in that town. Even just one 20 minute jog/brisk walk will help you meet your workout quota . If there are no good options, 15-20 mins of gentle stretching exercises every day you are away can also help. For snacks, try to stick with healthy snacks that you packed. For meals, be conscious of your food choices and pick restaurants that offer healthy choices or alternatives. And, if you have to choose fast food, more fast food restaurants are offering better and healthier choices. I usually look for a Starbucks so that I can get their snack packs or pre-made sandwiches. I also found a great article (link below) in More Magazine that highlights other good fast food choices.

Enjoy your next trip, I hope these tips will help you get that workout in.

Hope to see you for a session this week.
